Pre-Shift Safety Assessment
- Walk around the forklift to check for visible damage or hazards
- Verify that safety decals and warning signs are visible and legible
- Ensure the operator's manual is available in the forklift
- Wear required PPE before starting the inspection
Engine & Fluid Systems Check
- Check diesel fuel level and inspect fuel cap and tank area for leaks
- Verify engine oil level and check for oil leaks
- Inspect coolant level and radiator cap integrity
- Check hydraulic fluid level and look for external leaks
Hydraulic & Mast System Inspection
- Inspect forks for bends, cracks, or excessive wear
- Test mast tilt, lift, and side-shift operations for smoothness
