Clark C40D Diesel Forklift - Daily Inspection Procedure
Follow this daily inspection procedure to ensure operational safety, performance, and OSHA compliance.
Pre-Operation Safety Check
- Walk around the forklift for visible damage, leaks, or safety issues
- Verify operator training and certification are up to date
- Ensure personal protective equipment is worn
- Review prior inspection reports for unresolved issues
Engine & Fluid Systems Check
- Inspect engine oil, coolant, and fuel levels
- Check air filter and clean or replace if needed
- Examine exhaust system for leaks or blockages
- Inspect for visible fluid leaks beneath the forklift
Hydraulic & Mast Inspection
- Verify hydraulic fluid level and inspect hoses for wear or leaks
- Test lifting, lowering, tilt, and side-shift operations
- Inspect forks for cracks, bends, and secure mounting
- Lubricate mast chains and ensure proper tension
Safety Systems Verification
- Ensure seat belt operation and condition
- Test lights, horn, backup alarm, and indicators
- Verify brakes, steering, and emergency stop functionality
- Ensure load capacity plate and warning decals are legible
Operational Function Test
- Start engine and monitor for unusual noises or emissions
- Drive forward and in reverse to check responsiveness
- Test hydraulic operations under normal load
- Inspect battery terminals and electrical connections
