Drinking Fountain Filter – Inspection Procedure
Follow this checklist to ensure reliable drinking water quality through thorough filter testing, cleaning, and maintenance.
Flow Rate Testing Protocol
- Use calibrated container to collect water for 15 seconds
- Multiply volume by 4 to get ounces per minute
- Compare result with manufacturer specifications
- Record results in the maintenance log
- Note trends in reduced flow to schedule filter change
Filter Inspection & Replacement
- Turn off water and relieve pressure
- Open housing and inspect filter for discoloration or clogging
- Replace filter if due or degraded
- Reassemble ensuring all seals are aligned
- Restore flow and inspect for leaks
Water Quality Assessment
- Flush water before sampling
- Check clarity, odor, and taste visually and with basic tests
- Test pH, chlorine, and TDS with kits if available
- Document and compare with benchmarks
- Refer to lab testing if any anomalies found
System Sanitization Procedure
- Remove filter and apply sanitizing solution to housing
- Run solution through lines for recommended time
- Flush completely with clean water
- Reinstall filter and restart system
- Log sanitization in service records
