1. Visual Walk-Around & Environment Check
- Perform 360° inspection to identify hazards or leaks
- Clear the surrounding work zone of debris or obstructions
- Verify overhead guard and warning labels are intact
- Ensure forks are not in contact with ground or materials
- Check that fire extinguisher is present and functional
2. Tire and Rim Assessment
- Inspect tires for inflation, damage, or uneven wear
- Check that lug nuts are secure and present
- Verify rim condition for cracks, bends, or weld failure
- Remove embedded debris from treads if any
3. Fluids & Engine Readiness
- Check oil, coolant, hydraulic, and fuel levels
- Look for any visible leaks under the chassis
- Top off fluids if required and clean filler caps
- Inspect air filter indicator and condition
4. Forks, Mast, & Hydraulic Controls
- Inspect forks for bends, wear, and secure pins
- Check backrest, carriage, and tilt cylinders
- Test mast lift/lower, tilt, and side-shift operations
- Lubricate exposed mast chains if dry
5. Safety Equipment & Controls
- Ensure seat belt locks and retracts properly
- Test horn, lights, and backup alarm
- Check service and parking brake function
- Confirm steering is smooth and responsive
- Readability of load capacity plate
6. Reporting & Start Authorization
- Record hour meter reading and findings
- Report faults to supervisor before use
- Tag equipment if unsafe and disable ignition
- Complete checklist form and file record
