- Verify diesel fuel level and secure cap
- Check engine oil with dipstick and refill if needed
- Inspect coolant reservoir for level and leaks
- Check hydraulic and brake fluid for proper range
- Look for visible leaks beneath engine compartment
4. Forks and Mast Assembly
- Inspect forks for straightness and heel wear (10% rule)
- Ensure retaining pins and locks are in place
- Lubricate mast chains; verify even tension
- Test mast full range motion – no jerkiness
5. Safety Equipment and Controls
- Test seatbelt, horn, lights, backup alarm
- Verify mirrors, warning decals, and load plate
- Check fire extinguisher placement and charge
- Confirm steering, brakes, and accelerator function
- Ensure operator compartment is clean and safe
6. Operational Function Test
- Start engine and listen for irregular sounds
- Drive forward and reverse in low speed
- Operate lift, tilt, and side-shift (if equipped)
- Observe instrument panel and gauges
- Confirm no error codes or warning lights active
