Pre-Inspection Protocol
- Park on level surface, engage parking brake, turn off ignition
- Allow forklift to cool down and apply lockout/tagout if necessary
- Gather safety PPE and inspection documents
Battery & Electrical System
- Inspect for corrosion, loose terminals, and cell damage
- Check water levels in cells (lead-acid only)
- Record voltage and charger output
- Test all warning lights, switches, and instrument panel
Hydraulic & Fluid System
- Inspect hoses, fittings, and cylinders for wear or leaks
- Top up hydraulic and brake fluids if needed
- Test full range lift, tilt, and steering motion
- Inspect fluid color and condition
Structural & Mast Components
- Inspect forks for cracks and heel wear
- Verify mast guides and chains are lubricated and tensioned
- Test overhead guard stability and body panel condition
- Inspect operator compartment cleanliness and control access
Performance & Safety Systems
- Drive forward/reverse and test brakes and steering
- Test horn, beacon, seatbelt, and presence sensor
- Verify load plate legibility and fire extinguisher status
- Log abnormalities and initiate repairs if needed
Documentation & Sign-Off
- Record inspection data in maintenance logbook
- Notify maintenance team of any flagged items
- Tag out equipment if unsafe for use
- Sign and submit report to supervisor or system
