Kitchen Fire Suppression – Inspection Procedure
Use this procedure to verify cylinder pressure, nozzle positioning, fusible link integrity, and manual activation readiness per NFPA guidelines.
Cylinder Inspection
- Check that cylinders are securely mounted with intact tamper seals
- Verify cylinder gauge is in green (operating) range
- Inspect for dents, corrosion, and hydrostatic test date
- Weigh cylinder as required and compare with spec
Fusible Link Check
- Inspect link for grease, proper position, and no paint
- Check link rating and ensure appropriate for appliance temperature
- Verify all detection cables and pulleys are secure and free-moving
Nozzle and Piping Inspection
- Ensure nozzles are correctly aimed and caps are intact
- Check for any obstructions to discharge paths
- Verify piping is intact and brackets secure
Manual Pull Station & System Interface
- Check pull station location, accessibility, and height
- Pull cable or handle smoothly; ensure it actuates
- Test interlock signals: gas shutoff, hood fan off, fire alarm trigger
- Reset system after functional testing
