Main Drain Test Procedure
- Notify fire monitoring center before test
- Record static pressure reading
- Open drain valve fully and let pressure stabilize
- Record residual pressure
- Close valve slowly and compare readings
- Note any major pressure drop from previous records
Control Valve Inspection
- Ensure valve is in proper position (open/closed)
- Check valve seal/tamper switch/lock mechanism
- Confirm ID signage and legibility
- Ensure accessibility (3-foot clearance)
- Test OS&Y valve thread or PIV indicator
Alarm Activation Test
- Notify monitoring station before testing
- Open inspector’s test valve
- Verify local bell/alarm activates
- Check remote alarm signal receipt
- Close valve and reset system
- Log test time and results
Gauge Reading & Evaluation
- Inspect all gauges for physical damage
- Record system and supply pressure values
- Compare with last inspection readings
- Replace gauges with unusual readings
- Check for isolation valve open position
