FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about OxMaint's Statistical Quality Control system.

Statistical Quality Control (SQC) is a systematic approach that uses statistical methods to monitor, control, and improve product quality in manufacturing processes. It includes techniques like control charts, acceptance sampling, and process capability analysis to identify variations, detect defects early, and ensure consistent quality output—delivering products that meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

While often used interchangeably, SQC (Statistical Quality Control) is a broader term that encompasses all statistical methods for quality control, including SPC (Statistical Process Control). SPC specifically focuses on monitoring and controlling processes using control charts, while SQC also includes acceptance sampling, inspection methods, and output quality measurement. OxMaint provides both SPC and SQC capabilities in an integrated platform.

OxMaint supports all major control chart types. For variable data: X-bar & R charts (subgroups 2-10), X-bar & S charts (larger subgroups), Individual-Moving Range (I-MR) charts for single measurements, and EWMA charts for detecting small shifts. For attribute data: P-charts (proportion defective), NP-charts (number defective), C-charts (defects per unit), and U-charts (defects per unit with varying sample size). The system recommends the optimal chart type based on your data.

Process Capability indices (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) measure how well your process can meet customer specifications. Cp measures potential capability (spread vs spec width), while Cpk accounts for process centering. A Cpk of 1.33 means your process produces less than 64 defects per million. OxMaint calculates these indices automatically and shows PPM defective rates and Sigma levels, helping you identify processes that need improvement.

Yes! OxMaint's SQC module is fully integrated with the CMMS platform. When quality issues are detected through control charts or inspection, the system can automatically generate work orders, trigger preventive maintenance, and link quality events to specific assets and maintenance history. This creates a closed-loop system from defect detection to corrective action with complete traceability.
